Young Indian Project (YIP)
India (1968-1977)
The first president of SRAI, Narinder Bedi(1968) who was a chemical engineer with a major petrochemical company in LA area, left his job and settled in Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh with his spouse. This project helped local farmers to digb20+ irrigation wells. In addition to SRAI many other NGO’s helped local farmers to dig irrigation wells, establish a child care center, build an elder center and a clinic.

Book Packing Project
(1968-1971)
Tons of technical magazines (medical and engineering) were donated by the publishers to SRAI. The City of Los Angeles provided warehouse space. The SRAI members packed thousands of these magazines and sent them to technical and medical institutions in India.

Donation of Eye Examination Equipment
(1971)
In the later years, starting in 1980 to this day, SRAI has worked with and assisted charitable developmental organizations to provide seed money to start projects and funds to continue their effort. These organizations are MESCO Education Society, Roshan and Aalim Charitable Trust, Gandhi Smruti Trust, National Society for Prevention of Blindness Foundation, as well as 12 other oganizations.
